CatSnip Celebrates 10,000 Spay - Neuters

Homeless Kitty Pictured Above
Homeless
Kitty, an 11 lb stray cat
from Atlanta, is Project CatSnip's 10,000 spay-neuter. This friendly, docile cat was
found at the doorstep of caretaker and rescuer Holly White. Holly used her
own money to neuter Homeless Kitty out of compassion for homeless cats and
her desire to reduce the overpopulation problem. Homeless Kitty is
about a year old and has already fathered two litters, according to Holly.
He is a friendly cat that someone raised as a kitten then abandoned. I
couldn't afford to have him neutered if it were not for Project CatSnip's
low cost. Neutered at CatSnip’s Sandy Springs Petco location, Homeless
Kitty is now less prone to cat fights. These fights are part of the mating
ritual and often lead to deadly infections and diseases such as feline
AIDs.
Holly
is looking to change the name of Homeless Kitty to Have-a-Home Kitty. If
you are looking to adopt Homeless Kitty, please call Project CatSnip at
770 455-7077. Ms. White
will receive a $50 gift certificate from Petco - Where the Pets Go.
Project
CatSnip, a program of the Atlanta Animal Alliance, Inc., launched its
non-profit public service program in December of 2002. Since then, CatSnip
has grown to become the leading provider of feline spay-neuters in the
south and one of the top 10 spay-neuter clinics in the
United States
. CatSnip provides low-cost spay-neuter service to over 20 metro-Atlanta
counties to combat the cat overpopulation problem.
“We make feline spay-neuter affordable and accessible,” says Bob
Christiansen, co-founder of the program, “The vast majority of our
clients could not have their cats sterilized if CatSnip were not
available. We have thousands of testimonials from cat lovers who
whole-heartily thank us for providing this service. The vast majority of
cats we see have never been to a veterinarian and would never be spayed or
neutered without our public service program.”
Dr Amy Orlin, a licensed veterinarian of 15-years, co-founded the CatSnip
program and directs all medical activities. She was honored by the Greater
Atlanta Veterinary Medical Society as Distinguished
Veterinarian of the Year in 2002 for her work in animal welfare. Dr.
Orlin has developed CatSnip’s surgical procedures in consultation with
leading experts from around the country. “Low cost does not mean low
quality,” claims Dr Orlin. She is assisted by a top-notch, caring staff.
The CatSnip fee is $45 for a male and $70 for a female. The price includes
a FREE office visit, veterinary exam and pain relief. Cats are admitted at 7:30 AM and
are discharged in the late afternoon. Surgeries are performed in a
$150,000 vehicle that is custom designed to include modern medical
equipment. Appointments are necessary. For an appointment call 770
455-7077 or visit www.projectcatsnip.com
CatSnip is a
public service, animal welfare program. Most of the cats seen are those
that live outdoors exclusively or that are owned by people experiencing
financial hardship. Most of these cats are intact and are in a constant
state of reproduction. These forgotten felines would not have access to
sterilization surgery if it were not for the affordability of the Project
CatSnip service.
